The ReFocus awards dropped last week and I was once again the recipient of some “award metal.”
The portrait of Perrin Marie took a Silver in Fashion & Beauty, which is an interesting case because one of the award staff had emailed me asking if the could, at no extra charge, add that category to my entries. I’m grateful they did, and certain Perrin is beautiful and I find her birthday suit MOST fashionable. The photo also took an honorable mention in the portrait category.

From my Dreamtime series, “Peaceful” took two bronze in “Fine Art” and “People.”

“Awakening” took an honorable mention in the fine art category.

And finally a new piece that I haven’t really titled took an honorable mention in the “Abstract” category.

Not a bad haul, but as an aside confession this year I’d entered under “non-professional,” where as last year I’d mistakenly entered under “professional” (it’s a blink and you’ll miss it check box; many contests are the same way). But last year I got a gold, and this year fell short of that. The problem with any contests is that it’s all relative and depends on the other entries and the judges. But the thrill of the hunt can be fun so I may keep hunting a bit.
